And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. ~Marianne Williamson

It has been years since I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Joseph Campbell. He was a mainstay — a staple — a vital nutrient to me at one time in my life — my twenties, as I recall. He really held a lantern for me then as I walked through my “dark forest”. He fell away, I suppose, at the perfect moment…a moment of divine timing when I was being asked to carry-my-own-damn-torch-thank-you-very-much- and was presented with the choice to light my own way. It would take a considerable amount of time before I could even begin to trust in or even recognize my own ‘light’; that I was equipped with my very own ‘generator’ or power source.
Yesterday, Joseph Campbell was delivered to me, again…miraculously…in one of those juicy serendipitous moments. And what beautiful timing as I (along with the rest of humanity) am being asked — dared, almost, to enter into this new phase of who I really am. A time when we’re being asked to release the old “you” — and who we thought we were…and we’re being invited let go of our stories. Some of us have heard these phrases so many times, that they’ve almost lost their impact and import. Somewhere along the way, they became part of our spiritual vocabulary and got added to our daily list of personal improvement directives! So important to keep doing “the work” . Recently, though, I am hearing certain things as if for the first time and I am LOVING it…the freshness…really allowing the resonance of truth to move through me. It’s sooooo exciting and precious and reminds me what it was like when I first began my spiritual quest in earnest, when I was first being cracked open — my mind blown on a daily basis…It’s a feeling I’ve missed, like a best friend who has moved away.
Today, phrases like “get real about what you truly desire. now. in this moment” and “don’t hold on to anything that doesn’t serve you” have taken on a whole, new, fresh meaning.
Today, I began my day wondering, “what is the day asking of me…what is my Spirit calling for?” And even though the “to do” list of my 3D, mundane, Earth bound life is long, I made the choice to have breakfast with my old friend, Joseph Campbell, and savored his words in a new and fresh way while sipping my lemon balm tea.
Here are some of the quotes that called to me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Lots of love,
“You are the Hero of your own Story.”
“The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure ”
“Follow your inner heart and the world moves in and helps.
“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”
“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come. -”
I was so grateful to discover this quote today from Pema Chodron’s book, “Taking the Leap”. So timely, so perfect, so nourishing.
“Simply be present with your own shifting energies and with the unpredictability of life as it unfolds.”
Dear Pema, thank you for always being in my head and knowing exactly what I need to hear. Thank you Spirit, thank you, to the Universe, thank you Divine Mother, for delivering messages and reminders to me in a way that I can hear them and recognize their wisdom. I’m so grateful : )
