Disarming Our Fears

Two offerings for you this morning. The first, an amazing piece from “The Shamanic Poet” titled, Resistance.

The second, a weekly affirmation and song from my mentor, Karen Curry.
Both plucked a very deep chord within me, for sure. And I so love and appreciate how both of these pieces offer us practical wisdom to disarm and deflate our fears and challenges 🙂

Resistance | The Shamanic Poet
“Excuses will show up on the path –  any path – your fear of spiders, your sense that you don’t count, are alone, aren’t spiritual, can’t do the things others do. Name your own fears. Fear is just a feeling and all feelings  are mere phantoms but the pain is real when you slap yourself. Allow the hand print on your cheek and gaze at it until it dissipates. When  you create an excuse, then catch it in your palm, you receive a glimpse of the shining soul that lives within.”

From Karen Curry | Human Design for Everyone

“This week we speak from the soul with the Gate 8 expressing in the sun (starting on Wednesday). So, how about a special song this week…just for YOU…

Our Affirmation: My contribution to humanity is important. I commit myself to making my contribution by expressing my authenticity to its fullest extent. The world needs me to play the role I intended to play and the greatest contribution I make is to share my Light, my Love, Myself with the world. I never hold back. I radiate. I am a crucial part of the Light of the Wholeness of Mankind.”

3) Excerpt from a recent post from Karen Curry; this was such an inspiration for me today and struck a deep chord of resonance within me:

I asked my vibrant client why she thought her life worked so well and how it was that she mastered the Projector strategy.  Her reply was simple.

“I had great parents who taught me that I was too precious to waste my time and energy with people who don’t recognize what I have to bring and the power of who I am.”

Good parents.

When Human Design was first discovered, the founder of the Human Design System, Ra Uru Hu, revealed that Human Design is actually for our children.  But to help the children, we have to start with ourselves first.

The time is now to make a powerful, positive difference in the lives of our own children and the children of the world.

Can you imagine how different the world will be when all children are raised by parents who know how to support the unfoldment of each magnificent soul that is born on this planet.  Parents who accept their children for who they truly are, support their strengths, teach them how to interface with the world in an authentic and powerful way…

Breakfast with Joseph Campbell: Or…what happened when I asked what my Spirit was calling for…

It has been years since I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Joseph Campbell. He was a mainstay — a staple — a vital nutrient to me at one time in my life — my twenties, as I recall. He really held a lantern for me then as I walked through my “dark forest”. He fell away, I suppose, at the perfect moment…a moment of divine timing when I was being asked to carry-my-own-damn-torch-thank-you-very-much- and was presented with the choice to light my own way. It would take a considerable amount of time before I could even begin to trust in or even recognize my own ‘light’; that I was equipped with my very own ‘generator’ or power source.

Yesterday, Joseph Campbell was delivered to me, again…miraculously…in one of those juicy serendipitous moments. And what beautiful timing as I (along with the rest of humanity) am being asked — dared, almost, to enter into this new phase of who I really am. A time when we’re being asked to release the old “you” — and who we thought we were…and we’re being invited let go of our stories. Some of us have heard these phrases so many times, that they’ve almost lost their impact and import. Somewhere along the way, they became part of our spiritual vocabulary and got added to our daily list of personal improvement directives! So important to keep doing “the work” . Recently, though, I am hearing certain things as if for the first time and I am LOVING it…the freshness…really allowing the resonance of truth to move through me. It’s sooooo exciting and precious and reminds me what it was like when I first began my spiritual quest in earnest, when I was first being cracked open — my mind blown on a daily basis…It’s a feeling I’ve missed, like a best friend who has moved away.

Today, phrases like “get real about what you truly desire. now. in this moment” and “don’t hold on to anything that doesn’t serve you” have taken on a whole, new, fresh meaning.

Today, I began my day wondering, “what is the day asking of me…what is my Spirit calling for?”  And even though the “to do” list of my 3D, mundane, Earth bound life is long, I made the choice to have breakfast with my old friend, Joseph Campbell, and savored his words in a new and fresh way while sipping my lemon balm tea.

Here are some of the quotes that called to me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Lots of love,

“You are the Hero of your own Story.”

“The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure ”

“Follow your inner heart and the world moves in and helps.

“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”

“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come. -”

“Dear Pema Chodron, Thank You for always being in my head…”

I was so grateful to discover this quote today from Pema Chodron’s book, “Taking the Leap”. So timely, so perfect, so nourishing.

“Simply be present with your own shifting energies and with the unpredictability of life as it unfolds.”

Dear Pema, thank you for always being in my head and knowing exactly what I need to hear. Thank you Spirit, thank you, to the Universe, thank you Divine Mother, for delivering messages and reminders to me  in a way that I can hear them and recognize their wisdom. I’m so grateful : )

Whatever you call your superior power
—Source, God, Spirit—you are a divine creation,

and you can never be separate

from that which created you.

There is no place that God is not.

It has been said that God sleeps in the minerals,

rests in the vegetables, walks in the animals,

and thinks in us.

Think of God as a presence rather than a person

—a presence that allows a seed to sprout,

that moves the stars across the sky,

and simultaneously moves a thought across your mind.

A presence that grows the grass

and grows your fingernails all at the same time.

You are eternally connected to this presence,

your Source, the power of love that never

abandons you and never runs dry.

You can rely on this source if you remind yourself

that it includes you at all times.

Heaven is a state of mind, not a location.

It is always safe to let go and let God.
~Wayne Dyer

“…heaven is a state of mind, not a location…” – A loving reminder from Wayne Dyer

“…It is Glorious to Be Here…”

“I see myself in perfect health. I see myself in absolute prosperity. I see myself invigorated with life, appreciating, again, this physical life experience which I wanted so very much as I decided to be a physical Being. It is glorious to be here, a physical Being, making decisions with my physical brain but accessing the power of the Universe through the power of the Law of Attraction.”
— Abraham
* * * * * * * * *
This is my new favorite quote. When I read it just moments ago for the first time, it hit me. hard. Felt it deeply in my heart and my solar plexus. Particularly the “it is glorious to be here” piece. This is my goal from now on. This is the awareness that I want and need to carry close to my heart — that no matter what, “it is glorious to be here”. Glorious. glo·ri·ous adjective
1.delightful; wonderful; completely enjoyable: to have a glorious time at the circus.
2.conferring glory: a glorious victory.
3.full of glory; entitled to great renown: England is glorious in her poetry.
4.brilliantly beautiful or magnificent; splendid: a glorious summer day.
5.Archaic. blissfully drunk.
Because, if I’m being completely honest with myself, this state of being is not a neighborhood I hang out in most of the time. Content? Yes. Joyful? Definitely have moments of joy throughout my day. But what I’m noticing lately is just how much I push up against in my day to day life. It expresses itself in different ways of course. Most of the time I manage to make light of whatever it is that’s stuck in my craw at the moment. And I’ve been blessed with a fantastic sense of humor which has been a true ally over the years. But this resistance I feel – this ever present drive that wishes for something else…something other than what’s right in front of me. now. in this moment. is something I would love to transform. When I reflect on my own personal Human Design, there are of course explanations for this. But what I’m aiming for is acceptance. To be able to just breathe it all in and say, calmly and compassionately to myself: “it’s all ok…you’re exactly where you need to be. right now. The time for fighting and warriorhood is over. Breathe it all in. And smile.”

What tools do you use to accept the present moment? How do you deal with resistance? I’d love to hear about it. : )
